A free community music program for Jackson County
children and teens.
Ready 2 Play
Ready 2 Play is a community music program for children and teens in Jackson County. Initiated by the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, Ready 2 Play Jackson County, offers individual instruction for various instruments including piano, cello, violin, guitar, trumpet, and percussion at no cost to the students or their families.
The Jackson County State’s Attorney is committed to bringing music, arts, and other extracurricular programs to the community, strengthening community relationships, involvement, and creativity. Ready 2 Play Jackson County provides opportunities for children and teens to engage in music in their own neighborhood with community mentors.
Lessons are available depending on instructor and instrument availability. The volunteer instructors include music students, music faculty, and community members who offer private lessons in 30-minute increments during 6- and 12-week block sessions. Music lessons are currently available at the Fields Community Center. Ready 2 Play loans instruments and books to students for the duration of the session.
Parents or guardians can register students ages 5 and up online.
